Eating right is only half the battle when it comes to losing weight.

A healthy diet and exercise is your best bet for the best results on the scale. In part two of our series we take a closer look at simple slimming exercises that work.

If you’re spending hours working out each week without results and feel like you’ve hit a brick wall then take a deep breath.

Celebrity fitness chef, Jen Arricale shared some simple steps to get you moving in the right direction without a gym.

These exercises can be done at home and target all the problem areas.

First, let’s focus on legs with lunges that can be done walking or standing still.

“Everything is always slow and controlled. Straight back. Head up. We don’t want to injure ourselves, but you can do one leg maybe 20, 25, 30 reps, whatever you are comfortable with,” Arricale said.

For those of you with bad knees there is an alternative that nets the same results.

“There is something else called sissy squats where you can hang on to something actually come into a chair position,” she recommended.

Now, let’s shift to the arms.

“Every time you lift a weight you want to flex at the top of the motion.  What muscle am I working is the bicep. So, I want to flex at the top of that. Flex and control down,” Arricale said.

It’s a problem many ladies complain about, arms that flap, but with tricep kickbacks you’ll tone the back of the arm.

Forget about sit-ups and crunches, Arricale has a trick that targets the tummy trouble zone.

“You get on a flat surface and you very slow and you want to contract your lower abs all the way up and down. And notice what I’m not doing. I’m not going all the way up here because that takes the pressure off the abs. And I’m not going below parallel that’s not good for your back,” Arricale said.

For the best results, Arricale said not to focus on the reps rather your form.

“Whenever you are working out form is so important. Doing fewer repetitions or reps as we call them with correct form is far better for results and our health,” she pointed out.

Keep in mind, too much of a good thing equals little results. So, shake up your routine from time to time.
