Looking to push the tush or get your figure long and lean? Forget the heavy weights and treadmills, there’s a new workout in town that will go beyond.
“The results are pretty quick. So we’ve had a couple of clients notice even after like 16 classes that you know they lose inches around their thighs, their stomach gets flatter,” said Christa McCormick, an instructor at TenPoint5 Barre Studio.
The common problem areas many people face, but quick and results in the same sentence?
Now, this isn’t a gimmick. Just ask Kristen Beckbissinger who has been working out at Tenpoint5 Barre Studio in Tempe for about four months.
“I’ve dropped two pant sizes in probably the first two months alone and then just started toning up from there,” said Kristen Beckbissinger, lost 2 pant sizes.
So, what is it?
“So barre workout is basically a mix of yoga, Pilates and then we also bring a lot of things vertically. So we use the Ballet bar as support. We also use it as a stretching tool and it is all basing little tiny isometric movements basically toning your body from the inside out,” said McCormick.
The goal to this workout is to create a dancer’s physic.
“So we use 2 and 3 pound weights. So very light weights, but lots of tiny little motions and then after each section of the class we give the body a nice big stretch so that it creates that long muscle rather than bulking it up,” said McCormick.
What about Kristen’s favorite position?
“I have a love hate relationship with the pretzel,” said Beckbissinger.
This isn’t something you would find in the chip aisle at the grocery store.
“The pretzel is basically like a tush workout,” said Beckbissinger.
This is a low impact workout and because of all the stretching you don’t need to take a day off.
“We have tons of different modifications. So if you have a bum knee, bum ankle we can always move the position to a standing position so then again you alleviate the pain, but you’re still toning your thighs, still tone your stomach,” said McCormick.
The results are not the only thing that keeps Kristen coming back.
“I find it challenging every single time, but it’s putting your mind to work too, to really get the results you want. I like that part, the part where you cannot really let your mind wonder. You are focusing each time,” said Beckbissinger.
Don’t let that intimidate you, Kristen says, one time and you’ll be hooked.
“Give it a shot, give it a shot. The first class is tough you just feel a little bit silly, but everybody is super nice and that helps. And the person next to you is probably knows what they are doing a little bit better than you do so you know fake it until you make it,” said Beckbissinger.
To see the biggest changes in your body, Christa recommends you take classes four days a week.
Also keep in mind, along with the Barre workout, Kristen has changed her eating habits.
